Anti-Aging Skincare for Men
Restore your skin
The anti-aging industry is typically geared toward women, but men face many of the same aging challenges and some that are unique to them. The goal for reducing and preventing aging signs for men isn’t to appear 20 years younger, but to appear as their best selves; well rested, healthy, and energetic. Bags under the eyes, hair loss, and poor dental hygiene are just a few of aging men are wanting to reverse. Lucky for them, this is possible integrating some simple hacks you may not have known men can use as well. Caring for your skin is a primary way to prevent early signs of aging.
Give eye cream a chance
Bags under the eyes and crow’s feet can add years onto a man’s face. Purchasing a quality eye cream to use daily is an excellent way to prevent these unwanted effects of aging. Eye creams are designed to reduce dark circles, tighten the skin around the eyes to reduce wrinkles, and give you a more refreshed and energized appearance.
Hack – Borrow your wife or partner’s. They are designed for the same purpose so you might as well share, if they’ll let you. Establish a routine where you can work in eye cream on a daily basis.
Moisturize regularly
The face is one of the most neglected areas of a man’s body and is the one part that shows aging the most. Using a moisturize is a lot like using eye cream regularly, but the entire face and neck benefits. Regardless of your skin type, dry, oily, combination, or sensitive, men can benefit from using a moisturizer on a daily basis.
Best practice is to moisturize twice a day, morning and night. By implementing this practice, you will reduce fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, and even sun spots which can drastically improve the overall appearance of your skin and face.
Hack – Moisturize before you shave. If you’re prone to shave bumps or irritations moisturizing before you shave can reduce these marks while also hydrating during a time that is often drying to your skin.
Cleanse your face
Most men’s bath products can be used on all areas of the body. You can find a bottle of cleanser marketed as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and facial cleanser all-in-one. While using a product made for cleaning the face is ideal, even these multi-use cleansers will suffice for cleaning your face.
Regularly washing your face will remove dirt, oil, and dead-skin build-up that leads to blemishes, spots, wrinkles and acne. This residue can also reduce the amount of collagen in your face leading to an increase in wrinkles. The longer this build-up is allowed to stay on your face the more likely your skin will succumb to free radicals from pollution and environmental toxins resulting in more signs of aging on your face.
Hack – At least one facial cleansing can be done in the shower. For best results do so before shaving so you aren’t risking integrating dirt into your open pours.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating is beneficial for the skin’s health in more ways than one. It removes dry skin that tends to allow dead skin cells to build up on the face and show fine lines and wrinkles. When these cells are removed, and new cells replace them the process sends signals to the brain to promote collagen production. As we know, collagen is the compound necessary for giving skin its elasticity, meaning less sagging and wrinkles.
Hack 1 – Exfoliating can be done while showering to save time. In fact, scrub your entire body with a loofa or exfoliating tool, aging skin isn’t limited to the face.
Hack 2 – Shave in the shower. Shaving is an excellent way to exfoliate your skin and doing it in the shower will save time.
Care for your hands
Signs of aging aren’t limited to the face and neck. Remove the rough texture of your hands that can give you the appearance of being older than you are, or want to communicate, by exfoliating with a scrub on occasion. Moisturize after you’ve exfoliated, but also on a daily basis.
Hack 1– Exfoliate your hands on the same day you exfoliate your face to stay on a regular routine. This can even be done in the shower to save time and water.
Hack 2 – Leave lotion or moisturizer beside your bed for easy access and a reminder each night.
Some of these hacks are obvious, but man men are not encouraged to take care of themselves in these ways. From exfoliating to moisturizing, these simple steps can prevent and reverse signs of aging of men’s face and skin.
